Astro Pop (Shooter)

Instructies

Layer in the order given above. It should look like an Astro Pop popsicle.

Many know an Astro Pop as a tasty, layered candy that was once produced by the Spangler Candy Company. When others hear the name, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the layered, frozen treat that was messy to eat, but pretty darned good on a hot summer day.

But here, you won’t find either of those confections. Instead, you’ll find a more adult version of the layered treat that will remind you of your childhood while helping you work on a buzz.

The Astro Pop is a shooter that is created using the layering technique so that the end result looks and tastes much like the pop you might have had when you were a child.
There are several recipes for creating an Astro Pop, and each has its own set of ingredients and instructions.

A typical version uses 1/4 each of Blue Curacao, Cinnamon Schnapps, Goldschlager, Jagermeister, Midori, and Rumple Minze. Each ingredient should be layered in this specific order into a shooter glass and then consumed by the lucky drinker.
Another version calls for 1/4 each of Grenadine, Crème de Banana, Melon Liqueur, Vodka, and Rum (preferably 151 proof). This version sees the ingredients slowly and carefully layered into a cocktail glass. The reason for pouring the ingredients into such a large glass is for what comes next--lighting the drink on fire using a long match. This version should be consumed once the flame has extinguished.
